Scary

Well I received a notice from Savannah's school today ( from the public Health Officer ), that there is a an outbreak of the "Norovirus" ( Viral Gastroenteritis ). Well I felt slightly frightened. Well the notice the school sent home wasn't giving enough information on the subject. Just says how you can contract it and that there is no cure!!! I had to look on line, to realize that it is refered to as the stomach flu, except it's not caused by the influenza virus. It can last up to 10 days, so obviously more intense. I haven't heard of anyone who is sick so that's good.... None of Savannah's friends have been out of school for being sick so I'm thinking it's more of a percaution than anything. Kids are good at passing germs so, stop it before it does get out of control.

But it got me to thinking about a few things. What if the wrong virus made it's way up north with us? I mean this Norovirus can with stand freezing temperatures, as hot as 60 degrees celcuis, and lots of chlorine!!! What if something really bad pops up? I know I really shouldn't pay attention to those stupid movies but....you got to admit if you really think about it.... how quickly our lives could change. One serious epidemic and could leave a lot of devastation. We have been very fortunate in our generation, with the feeling that we are invincible. Vaccines that have been developed along with all of our technology. AIDS seems to be the most scary thing besides terrorists. We are so quick to think that we will destroy ourselves, or because of our neglect for mother earth she will release some natural disataster to restore natural order. Well, I'm sure that she has some weird virus hidden somewhere, and the way we are ripping away at her, we're sure to find it. Or some freak terrorist decides to hit CDC!! Scary isn't it? Where would we have to run? Would anywhere be safe? I hope we never have to find out......

Just a little stressed out tonight

Well I just had the night from hell!!! I could not get it right at work tonight!! There are a few people who must think I am the worst waitress in the world....I honestly felt like walking out. I told them they need to cut me right away so I could get out. I was being seated 3 and 4 tables at one time...I can't get to all the tables at he same time!! plus having tables across the restaurant when the rush hit wasn't helpful.... I still made my over my 10% in tips, but I felt lost the whole time, I couldn't keep up!!! Which is really weird for me, I always do fine under pressure!!
I guess I have hit my limit... thank god I have my little vacation planned for next weekend!! It will be so nice to drive somewhere different, get away from everyone...(and everyone is mostly my ex).
I really don't know how to handle him being back in the picture and being nice to me. He is trying to pay some child support when he can, and is trying to talk to me etc. I'm just waiting for the anvil to drop on my head like in the cartoons!!! He takes the good out of me, I don't know how he can still do it!!!! While he was gone, I was doing great, no more pain killers, way less pain, working out all the time. Now my stress is maxed out, I'm in pain again, all I can do to keep my sanity is work out everyday which is proving harder because I'm in pain. I feel lost....... I know what I want, just don't know how to get there. But I guess that's just the adventure of life, the road along way. At least my adventure isn't boring....lol....

Have you ever felt like you just need to get away? Well, I just need to do something for me, something fun, and going up there will be just what the doctor ordered!! Well with the way I take pics, I know I'll have lots of pics and I'll post them when back. Still a couple weeks away, but YAY!!!!!

Pass it on.....

Have you ever seen the movie, Pass it on ? Well I had my own experience of just that the other day. I was at work, it was the end of my split shift and it was fairly late. I had brought a change of clothes with me to work so I could go out after for a drink without having to drive across town etc... While I was putting on my make up in the ladies washroom, there was a lady in her 40's there and we struck up a conversation. I felt kind of weird doing my hair and make up with her there trying to wash her hands.... I apologized, said I just finished my shift and it's just easier to get ready here than go home etc. She laughed and said she remembered doing the same thing, night shifts, split shifts. We spoke of me being a single mother, and she said it will get easier... not to worry, someday I will have my 9-5 to job that I like. We laughed and said by and that was it.
So I finished and went out to the lounge side of work where my friends were who were also just finishing their shifts. We sat and had a few drinks while everyone finished. Well before I knew it, the same lady came over to me, hugged me and slipped me 20$ and said to take my girl out for an ice cream and enjoy some time with her. She walked away and sat with her friend. Well I didn't know what to think!!! I went over to them and said thank you very much, but you don't have to do this.... She said....
"When I was younger, and going through my same situation, there were people who would offer me advise, or help and I never realized exactly what they were offering me until now. After I spoke with you in the washroom I thought to myself what a beautiful, smart young lady you are, you are a hard worker to be a waitress I know. I found myself wishing I could some how contribute. Then I thought, I could give you that, it's not much, but it's something. If I were rich I would give you so much more. But I'm not, all I ask is that you remember this for when you have your opportunity to do the same to someone else."
Just like the movie!!!!!!!!! There are some amazing people out there still. So just when you think it's all a bunch of freaks out there....take it upon yourself to take the time to do one selfless act of kindness for a stranger and make their day. What's the worst that will happen? They will smile and think wow, there not all freaks out there, and they might do the same for someone else? That one act on her behalf, will be something I will remember for the rest of my life. It made me change the way I look at few things too.....

So pass it on......

Savannah watched her first sunrise

Savannah and I were driving back to town early one morning and I realized we had the perfect view to watch the sunrise. So we pulled over and watched her very first sunrise together... we talked about space, and how the earth moves, and how massive the universe is, and how special we are to be able to know the beauty around us.
So purifying to watch this, I forgot how nice it was......
So my Christmas was terrific!!! Best one I've had in years. Savannah and I spent Christmas eve and morning with my parents. We all drove out to Jackie's house. Savannah and I stayed out there for a couple days. She played with the other kids

I got to have a few bottles of wine... lol... (very interesting @ 4am when I thought my head had fallen off and rolled down the stairs lol)

. Plus we had an amazing firework show. I uploaded a video of part of it. It lasted quit a while. The kids got to shoot off the bottle rockets...but remember!!! Never let drunk people play with bottle rockets lol. Don't ask...all I can say is that it was the funniest thing I have ever seen.

Boxing day we went out to Saskatoon Mountain and spent the day sliding with the kids. OMG what a blast we had!!!

The kids got to have a fire outside, we cooked smores. We had early night that night though lol.
Well we got up the next day and came home. I've been so busy working lately, haven't been able to blog at all. Later....
